Thoothukudi railway station is a train station connecting the city of Thoothukudi in the Indian state of Tamil Nadu with rest of the country. The station belongs to the Madurai railway division, a part of Southern Railway Zone. ==Location and layout== South of the Thoothukudi train station is the Chinna Koil and the bishop's house both in quick succession and only a minute's walk from the station. The Beach Road, one of the city's important thoroughfares is at a throw-away distance from the station where important landmarks such as the lady of Snows Church, The Holy Trinity Church, The Tuticorin fishing Harbour, The Tamil Nadu Maritime Academy, The Government travel Bungalow and The Roach Park all lie. The Tuticorin Port is located about 8 kilometers from the station and the nearest airport is the Thoothukudi Airport situated 18 kilometers away. The station is a part of the Tuticorin - Vanchi Maniyachi section and the next nearest station is the Thoothukudi-Melur train station situated 2 km away.
